Rébecca Beaumont
Official website Facebook
Rébecca Beaumont, 22, is already in her sixth year with Devinci and her second year in the senior elite category. She loves a challenge, but above all, her drive to win is what inspired her to become a mountain bike racer. Despite her modest beginnings, she has excelled through the mentoring of her coach, Jude Dufour. In her first season in the elite category, she won third place in the Canadian Championships, allowing her to compete in four World Cup categories as well as the Canada Games in Prince Edward Island, where she performed well. She came back strong in 2010, with a third-place win in the Canadian championships; she also competed in the under-23 (U23) category at the world championships. She finished five minutes behind the winner of the Windham World Cup in 2011, a year that was a turning point for Rébecca. She suffered a concussion six days before the World Championship, eliminating any chance of victory. After more than a year without any physical activity, she got her physician's approval to resume training in August, 2012. Now, she is on the attack and ready to take on the Quebec and Canada Cups this season.

A dedicated student, Rébecca knows how to balance her four-year academic program with her cycling career. It helps that she is a very organized person, since she is both an elite athlete and a mechanical engineering student at the École Polytechnique in Montreal. She manages to find time to participate in engineering competitions, and has represented her school at the national finals.
