Facebook
Michael was first introduced to cycling by his father after sports-related injuries; cycling was an integral part of his recovery. His cycling career started with mountain bike racing, were he quickly found his niche in endurance events, winning the 12 Hours Of Oleta solo at age 14. After racing mountain bikes competitively for another two years , Mike switched his focus to pursuing road racing completely. Mike finished his studies early on, allowing him to leave high school during his senior year to race for the Italian U23 Development Team Grassi in Tuscany, Italy. Having gained a lot of experience, Mike returned to the States to purse a college degree in business administration while continuing to build his cycling career. Since then Mike has raced at the continental level for two years, first with Realcyclist.com and last season with the Garmin-Barracuda development team Chipotle First-Solar.
