“I am not superstitious, but Scotland has been a tough track for me, I have just never been able to put in a good result. The bike ran amazingly well and I am pumped to come away with a podium finish and look forward to next week.”- Steve Smith

“This is an amazing way to kick the season off with a podium finish on a track where we haven’t seen much success in the past. Steve got the job done and the JR riders had a great showing for their first trip to Fort William.”- Gabe Fox, Team Manager

Steve finishes 3rd on WC #1 | FORT WILLIAM, SCOTLAND—Devinci Global Racing kicked of the 2013 UCI World Cup in style, earning its first podium finish of the year and JR riders stepped up with top ten results.

Fort William entering its tenth season, as a host venue for the UCI World Cup did not disappoint in its 2013 edition. Uncharacteristically hot and dry temperatures had the course running at its fastest. In qualifying Steve Smith rode to a fifth place finish and DGR JR riders Mark Wallace and Gianluca Vernassa finished an impressive 7th and 10th. Unfortunately Nick Beer was unable to finish his run and did not make the cut for Sunday’s final.

Sunday’s main event brought fans out in droves to witness one of the most exciting races in recent World Cup History. The battle was good until the last rider finished. The first podium worthy time was clocked by Sam Hill and he would stay on top until the final six riders were to descend into the arena. All of the final six riders put in podium worthy times, but after the final rider crossed the line, Steve Smith would finish 3rd and JR’s Rider Mark Wallace in 6th and Gianluca Vernassa in 10th.

Next up for DGR is World Cup #2 in Val Di Sole, Italy.
